The Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences organized a national symposium on “Cultural Security in Cyberspace: Protecting Youth from Misinformation and Extremism” at Auditorium 07. The event brought together a select group of professors and researchers from Sétif 2 University and ten other national universities.
The symposium was inaugurated by the University’s Vice-Rector in charge of Scientific Research and the Dean of the Faculty. The event witnessed notable attendance from professors and students across various disciplines, in addition to several distinguished guests, including the Director of Culture for the Wilaya of Sétif.
Participants discussed effective strategies to strengthen the intellectual resilience of youth against the risks of the digital space and ways to prevent them. They also outlined scientific and practical visions to protect young people from misinformation and the potential drift toward extremism, through critical thinking and enhanced cooperation among educational and media institutions, with the aim of establishing a safe digital environment that upholds and preserves the values, principles, and identity of society.
